Ahem.
What’s in the water in China right now?
Every few days we’re seeing rumors flying around about ANOTHER new couple — so much so that we figured we might as well sum it up in its own post for posterity’s sake.
Let’s get the big one out of the way first: Wu Jinyan (yep, that Wu Jinyan from this summer’s breakout show, The Double) and Hong Yao just announced their marriage on Weibo. Not a big surprise to anyone who’s closely followed them in the past, as they’ve entertained dating rumors for years. They co-starred together in Story of Yanxi Palace, but remained relatively low-key for 7 years — so much so that “who is Hong Yao” apparently started trending on Weibo afterwards 😂)
Next up is Zhang Xincheng of Go Ahead fame and Li Landi of… something… fame. (We haven’t watched one of her dramas yet, okay! But we are excited for the imminent release of Love of Nirvana, her drama with Ren Jialun) They were spotted on a nighttime walk recently in Beijing. Apparently the rumor is that they’ve been a couple since they were paired up in My Huckleberry Friends all the way back in 2017.
But thankfully, some normalcy still reigns, because Dylan Wang and Chen Xiaoyun very quickly took the conventional route and denied dating rumors after a video of them at karaoke surfaced on the Internet. They both clarified with an air of “you people should go touch grass” that the karaoke party was a celebration after wrapping their series Guardians of the Dafeng (which is rumored to air in a month or two).
So back to our original question: what’s in the water in China right now, and if we drank some of it, would we also magically be able to transport into a relationship?
