This drama is adapted from the novel “The Female General” by Chanshan Chake.

He Yan was born to be a general.

But she was also only her elder brother’s substitute. She fought on the battlefield for years, pacified the Western Qiang, conquered the Southern Barbarians—only to be married off without further ado the moment that her brother recovered.

Yet she was not only forsaken by her husband during her marriage, but she also suffered a strange illness that caused her to lose her eyesight. So the young concubine standing in front of her had to softly explain: “That potion you drank that resulted in your blindness, it was personally sent to you by the elders of your family. Only the dead tell no tales. If you lived—if you lived, you’d be your family’s greatest threat!”  

She was the famous general of a generation, the heroine of the country—how absurd it was for her to end up dying at the hands of jealous women who only knew how to fight for a man’s love!

When she awoke again, she had become the daughter of a field officer: weak but arrogant, innocent but naïve.

They had stolen her glory, taken her life, carried away her army, and cheated her feelings! In this life, she would seize back all that she had lost, one by one. She would bring the world under her feet, and shock and awe all of the nine states!

And yet the military camp was as deep as the sea, and it was just her luck to meet, at the very beginning of her revenge, the bane of her previous life: that other young general, whose might was known far and wide.

The director, 蒋家骏 (Jiang Jiajun), also directed The Longest Promise (Xiao Zhan, Ren Min).

Features two members of THE9 (girl group formed from Youth With You 2) in the supporting cast: Xu Jiaqi and Kong Xueer.

At one point during filming, Zhou Ye accidentally fell into the river and Cheng Lei princess carried her out. Photos documented on Twitter. 

Filming started in November 2023 and ended March 2024.
